We've said goodbye to Annerley

Our Annerley store closed permanently on January 26th 2025. While this was never our intention, we had to make this decision due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.

Why We Closed
On the last day of the year, we received news that left us with no choice but to leave at the end of our lease. Unfortunately, we still cannot provide more details, but please know this outcome was never part of our plan.

Even though the Annerley store wasn’t the ideal space for our growing needs, it had been our home for the past three years (and even longer with the previous owner). It held a special place in our hearts as the foundation that allowed the Lucky Cat Cafe to grow into what it is today.

Flaws and all, it is deeply missed as the space that helped us create so many cherished memories with our community.

What Happened to the Cats
We began transitioning the cats to our Ipswich store from January 27th. Because we were maintaining around 8 cats at each location, not all could be moved over immediately. The gradual transition helped our adult cats adjust to the new environment.

Our mission remains the same: to get all our fosters adopted. We're still committed to finding loving homes for our adult cats—no matter how long it takes.

If you or someone you know is looking to adopt, please reach out to Kitten Kapers Rescue.

How You Can Still Help
If you’d like to continue supporting us:

Visit our Ipswich store: Until we find a new Brisbane location, Ipswich is the heart of our operations. We’d love to see you there and share the next chapter with you.

Help us find a new space: If you or someone you know has a commercial property near Brisbane or on the Northside (e.g., a warehouse and/or kitchen space), please get in touch. We’re actively planning our return to Brisbane.

Moving Forward
The Ipswich store remains open and has become the core of our operations for now. We're excited about the opportunities to grow and evolve in Ipswich while we continue searching for a new Brisbane home.

A Note About Cat Cafes
We understand how this might come across, but we want to raise awareness around responsible cat cafes. We’ve heard rumours of some new cafés in Brisbane that may not be following regulations around animal welfare and food safety.

If you plan to visit other cat cafes, please do so thoughtfully. Be cautious of places where cats are in the same space as food prep or café equipment, this goes against food safety regulations and isn’t good for the cats or the customers. Another thing to be wary of is where the cats are in relation to the street. Cat cafes are not allowed (in most council areas) to have the no barrier between the cats and the street. This is why we have an "airlock".

These regulations exist to protect both people and animals. By supporting responsible businesses, you're helping ensure that cat cafes can continue to thrive while putting safety and well-being first.

Thank you again for your unwavering support. We hope to see you soon at our Ipswich store.

With gratitude,
The Lucky Cat Cafe Team
